About Jamal
My first name, Jamal-Deen, means “Beauty of Faith”. My whole life revolves around my faith - first my faith in God and second, my faith in myself - it is my fundamental belief that my wisdom, knowledge and abilities are limitless.
My overriding vision in life is to become a Visionary and a successful Entrepreneur.
Currently studying for an advanced Management degree (MBA) in UK’s most prestigeous institute for energy studies (Center for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, Scotland, I feel like I am ultimately moving closer to my vision in life.
I currently hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science from the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, and also a diploma in Computer Science from the same University.
Prior to starting my advanced degree in September 2011, I worked for Newmont Mining Corporation (www.newmont.com) in its Africa operations in Ghana, as a Senior Representative in charge of HR Information Systems at its Accra Office. My job included that I ensuring that the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system data was clean, accurate and ready for all business needs. I also evaluated, interpreted and analyzed data for business processes. I developed and monitored new, routine, and ad hoc reports using standard database tools. Furthermore, I led, coordinated, collected and documented business requirements for cross functional HRIS projects.
My interest and passion is primarily but not limited to Entrepreneurship, Technology, Energy, Leadership and Management. It is my desire to see a more purposeful and a more influential role of technology in today’s business locale.
I share the view that the future is about “INNOVATION: the generation and implementation of new ideas.” I further seek to use my God-given talents in the service of others through the expression and articulation of my ideas, volunteering activities and speaking engagements. My goal is to see an impartial and equal society where all can excel through hard work and dedication to duty.
If I had the power to change 4 things in this world, it will certainly be to:
- Eradicate extreme poverty.
- Bring Informationto the door step of many
- Transform religious extremism to religious tolerance.
- Spread the word of humanity to all corners of the world.
My favourite quote is one I picked from Former US Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell’s “Check Small Things” .
